Chris has been with Rice & Co since 1978, becoming a partner just a year later.

He has vast experience as a chartered accountant, having been qualified for more than 35 years, and deals with all aspects of accountancy, tax and audit as a general practice partner.

“I enjoy my work immensely – especially dealing with clients of all types and size who appreciate and use the advice I offer to the benefit of their business” said Chris.

“It is particularly rewarding to see clients grow – I now deal with some quite substantial businesses who originally came to see me as a new start-up years ago.”

Born and bred in Newcastle under Lyme, Chris is married with two grown up children, and enjoys living in the Staffordshire countryside.

Kevin Preece
Cannock Office

Kevin has been a partner with Rice & Co since 1992, having worked as a chartered accountant for more than 20 years.
He is a general practitioner acting for a whole range of clients, but particularly those involved in manufacturing, civil engineering and design engineering.

“I particularly like dealing with such a broad base of clients, getting to know about their business, the owners and their families and providing financial advice to enable their business to grow and prosper,” said Kevin.

“I really like playing such an active role in determining the practice’s future, together with my fellow partners, and am proud of the firm’s achievements – of being able to provide a useful financial resource to the local community.”

Kevin lives in Cannock, and is a huge fan of Walsall football club and Northern Soul music.

Steve Dale
Cannock Office

Steve has worked for Rice & Co since 1987, going on to qualify as a chartered accountant five years later, before being made a partner in 2001.

Like his fellow partners, he deals with all aspects of accountancy and taxation, and has clients from a diverse range of industries and backgrounds.

“The thing I most enjoy about my job is helping businesses set up, and providing the support they need, particularly through their early years, when many problems can arise,” said Steve.

“Continuing to support them, as they grow, and develop more financial awareness, gives me a great sense of achievement, as does being part of the team here at Rice & Co.”

Steve is born and bred in Cannock, and continues to live in the Staffordshire town.

Matthew Gibbs
Uttoxeter Office

Matthew joined Rice & Co in 1992, and trained as a chartered accountant with the company.  He qualified in 1995, and went on to become a partner six years later.

He is an audit partner with the firm, but deals with all aspects of accountancy and taxation, along with his fellow partners.

“I really enjoy the variety of work I have as a general practitioner – it brings me into contact with clients from a huge variety of backgrounds – providing advice to clients as diverse as farmers to engineers, charities and retailers” said Matthew.

“Building professional relationships and seeing how the help we give really boosts our clients’ businesses is a great source of satisfaction.”

Matthew lives in West Bromwich with his wife and young family, and is a keen – if long-suffering – fan of West Bromwich Albion.
